Cross Country By Mike Pervel and Chris KinkaidSt. Tammany News Slidell’s Zach France continued his great season and captured the District 7-5A Cross Country championship title with a time of 15:47 at the meet last week at Fontainebleau State Park. St. Paul’s won the team competition with 38 points, beating Mandeville by eight points. Fontainebleau (64) was third, followed by Slidell (101), Ponchatoula (136), Northshore (164) and Covington (193). France won by 10 seconds over St. Paul’s Matt Mouton (15:57) in the 46-runner field. Fontainebleau’s Zach Harris (16:29) was third, followed by SPS’ Ethan Mizell (16:39) and Mandeville’s Connor Casey (16:41). MHS’ Steven Hollander (16:42) took sixth, followed by FHS’ Corey O’Dell (16:45), Mandeville’s Bryan Mutell (16:45), SPS’ Scott Brewster (16:50) and St. Paul’s Christian Bergeron (16:52) finished out the top 10. Girls Meet In the girls meet, St. Scholastica Academy’s Angela LaBorde won the 3-mile race with a time of 18:13 to lead the Doves to the district title with 28 points. Mandeville’s Elizabeth Manuel (18:53) was second, helping the Lady Skippers to a second-place finish with 42 points. Taking third was Fontainebleau junior Amy Deeble (19:26), who helped the Lady Bulldogs to third place with 68 points. SSA’s Catherine Pereira (19:58) was fourth, and MHS’ Christine Derbins (20:14) rounded out the top five. SSA’s Melissa Hamel (20:30) was sixth, followed by teammate Lauren Salles (20:37), MHS’ Ashley Irwin (20:46), FHS’ Mikaela Thurber (20:47) and SSA’s Clare Ledoux (20:57).
