A Pearl River man was recently arrested after he threatened to kill his wife during a game of Russian roulette, then escaped through thick fog when a SWAT team arrived at their home.

Hollis Allen Davis Jr., 47, was arrested not far from the couple’s home at 37429 S. Hickory Drive, the day after the 11:40 p.m. Nov. 4 incident, Sheriff’s Office Capt. George Bonnett said.

Although the arrest occurred last week, details were only released Monday when crime reports were filed.

Davis, also known as “Buddy,” lived with his wife at the home when the couple started fighting. Davis left only to return a short time later clutching the revolver, Bonnett said.

He pulled the six-shooter chamber out, filled some with bullets and spun it back into place, Bonnett said.

“We’re going to play Russian roulette,” Bonnett said he told his wife.

In the midst of the argument, he also lambasted her politics.

“I bet you voted for Obama, too,” he said referring to new elected president Barrack Obama.

The wife then called authorities. Moments later, as the sirens approached, she ran outside the front door to greet deputies. Davis, however, ran the other way, outside the back door and into the cover of a heavy fog, Bonnett said.

The SWAT team was unaware Davis had escaped. They set up a perimeter around the home and called on a bullhorn for him to come outside.

More than an hour later, when Davis never emerged, SWAT team members stormed the house. Davis was nowhere to be found, Bonnett said.

The next day, on Nov. 5, sheriff’s deputies found Davis at an undisclosed location and arrested him. He was charged and booked on one count of aggravated assault, a misdemeanor charge that carries up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine, if convicted.

Davis was released on a $750 bond, Bonnett said.
