For the third consecutive year St. Tammany Parish Hospital was named one of the top 5 percent of employers in the nation, a hospital spokesperson said.

Awarded yearly by the Herman Group, a Greensboro, N.C.-based consulting firm, the Employer of Choice designation applauds businesses that offer holiday parties, banquets, award ceremonies and more while allowing employees to shape direction of company initiatives.

Input was recently gathered from employees in each department that helped speed up emergency room visits and offer restaurant style meals to patients who are delivered food ordered off a menu.

“Supporting our employees attracts them to work here and comes through in how we treat our patients and guests,” said Sharon Toupes, senior vice president and chief operating officer for STPH.
