Keep Slidell Beautiful launches Green Team program with grant Keep Slidell Beautiful, an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, has received a $2,000 mini-grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful to continue its efforts to keep the Camellia City clean, green and beautiful. KSB will use the grant money to buy trash bags to be used in all of the subdivision cleanups, plus pickup poles and safety vests for volunteers and at least 30 KSB T-shirts for team captains. The grant will also be used to defray the cost of producing, copying and mailing an educational brochure as part of the agency’s new Green team program. The Green Team is is a partnership program developed by KSB to involve citizens in the cleanup and beautification of their neighborhoods. The initial goal is to involve at least 32 subdivisions/neighborhoods with the help of the Slidell City Council. Flyers and brochures outlining the history of Keep Slidell Beautiful, will be sent to every address provided by council members in the subdivisions. KSB will work with various groups to clean up their neighborhoods. The agency will provide the equipment and team captains will get T-shirts. KSB also has available matching grants of up to $100 each to use for individual beautification projects to enhance the appearance of subdivision entrances. For more information, call KSB Executive Director Bill Mauser at 265-5029 or Wanda Beelman in the City Council office at 646-4307. |
