Why any man would want a wife is a mystery. Why any man would want more than one wife is a bigamystery.

You have until this Friday to view Out of Our Element, the current juried exhibit at the Slidell Cultural Center.

Renowned artist George Dunbar served as the juror for the competition, which challenged artists to step out of their creative comfort zones and create a new work in one or more media they have not previously utilized.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free.

A man visited the home of a Mississippi business colleague, and the wife introduced him to their lovely little daughter. “Her name is Marlon,” said the proud mom, “after ma favorite movie star.”

The man asked, “You named your daughter after Marlon Brando?”

“No, silly,” said the mom, “ah named her after Marlon Monroe.”

Congratulations and best wishes to president Bob Baker and all of the folks at Baker Sales, Inc., who are celebrating their 30th anniversary and the grand opening of a new office and warehouse in Slidell.

A special ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Dec. 5 at 3 p.m. hosted by the East St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce.

The wholesale steel pipe and fence supply distributor is located at 60207 Camp Villere Road.

A business foursome is on the links one day, when one of them collapses on the 18th hole. “Better get me a doctor,” he says.

One of his group uses his cell phone for a minute then reports back, “We’re lucky. There’s a doctor just four holes behind us.”

“Will it take him long to get here?” groans his friend.

“No,” replies the other. “Everybody’s agreed to let him play through.”

The President is going to lead us out of this recovery.
