CHS blanks Pearl River and Salmen

Covington’s Fighting Lions blanked the Pearl River Rebels 5-0 Thursday in Covington behind Chris Cassaday’s hat trick.

Luke Beaudean, who was named the Lions’ top defender also netted a goal along with Zack kidder. The Lions led 4-0 at the half. CHS’ goal keeper Matt McGee notched the shutout, improving the Lions’ record to 2-0.

On Tuesday, Covington whitewashed Salmen 6-0 at home on two goals each by Cassaday and Ronald Garay. Aaron Irvin tallied a goal and Covington was also credited with an own goal when a Salmen player inadvertently deflected a ball in goal. Colin Mansfield was named the top defender with McGee netting the shut out.

Girls

Treese tallies twice

in PRHS win

Pearl River’s Kim Treese scored both Lady Rebels’ goals in a 2-1-road victory over Lusher Thursday.

PRHS is 1-1 this season.

Treese netted her first goal, which was unassisted, 16:20 into the match, for a 1-0 lead.

The match stayed that way through halftime. In the second half, Lusher tied the game at 1-1 on a penalty kick during the 45th minute.

Treese gave PRHS the lead once again when she dribbled in and scored from the right side unassisted in the 46th minute.

Pearl River coach Jeannie Beaushaw named Taylor Peterson her top defender.

Covington falls

to Hahnville

Covington’s Lady Lions fell to Hahnville 3-0 on the road Tuesday. Hahnville led 1-0 at the half. CHS’ top defender was Amelia Newman. Last Tuesday, Covington downed the Salmen Lady Spartans 5-1 at home. CHS got two goals each from Jen Watkins and Kayleigh Wilbert.

Kristen Lopez added the other goal. Jessica Miller was the Lady Lions’ winning goalkeeper.

Mandeville

blanks Cabrini

Mandeville’s Lady Skippers blanked Cabrini 9-0 Wednesday on two goals each by Abby Schmidt and Rachelle Giroir. Missy McGuire, Ashley Gussoni, Julia Hunter, Emily LeBreton and Alex Coogan netted one goal each in the shut out victory. The winning goalkeeper was junior Abby Post. Bailey Kleis was named the Lady Skippers’ top defender.
