St. Paul’s edged by Vandebilt

St. Paul’s fell to the Vandebilt Catholic Terriers, 2-1, Saturday in a non-district match played in Houma.

TJ Freeman and Ashton Pitre tallied the Vandebilt goals. Chris Watson was named the Terriers’ top defender, and Mason Smith was the winning goalkeeper. St. Paul’s Zack Perret scored the Wolves’ lone goal, assisted by Seth Hagan. Mark Caragliano was named the Wolves’ top defender, while Brian Bowers was in goal. The Wolves slipped to 0-2, while Vandebilt moved to 2-0 on the season.

The game was scoreless at the half. St. Paul’s took six shots on goal, while Vandebilt had four shots on goal.

SPS coach Trevor Watkins said his team gave a good individual effort but isn’t gelling yet as a team.

PJP II comes back to beat Lusher

Pope John Paul II’s Andrew Morse tallied four goals in a 6-2 victory over Lusher in a non-district road match Saturday.

The Jaguars were down 2-0 but scored six unanswered goals to capture the victory.

Morse’s first netter came in the first half on an assist from Jon Price, and the Jags trailed 2-1 at halftime.

Morse tied the match on a corner kick and then tallied on an assist from Tyler Lusignan. Price scored his first of two goals to make it 4-2 and then Morse got on the board once again. Price posted the final PJP goal.

PJP coach Jack Mills named Sidney Corwin his top defender.

Girls

FHS shut out Baton Rouge High

Fontainebleau edged Baton Rouge High, 1-0, Friday at the CYSA fields. Hannah Leumas scored the game’s only goal in the 50th minute after the club’s battled to a scoreless first half. Shelby Latino was credited with an assist. Kaitlin Villars was in goal posting the shutout. Gabby Vince was named the Lady Bulldogs’ top defender.

Mandeville blanks St. Amant

Mandeville’s Lady Skippers traveled to St. Amant to face the Lady Gators at the Pit on Friday in non-district action. MHS (2-0) notched three goals in the first half and coasted to a 7-0 win to improve. 

Sophomore center midfielder Emily Descant scored a pair of unassisted goals in each half and was also credited with two assists. Descant assisted senior forward Rachelle Giroir on her two goals. Freshman Julia Hunter, sophomore Kaitlin Davis, and senior Emily LeBreton also scored one goal each for the Lady Skippers.

FHS blanks Terrebonne

Fontainebleau blanked Terrebonne, 5-0, last Tuesday at Terrebonne. Shelby Latino, Casey Adkins, Sydney Robbins, Kaley Blanton and Laurel Upton scored one goal each for the Lady Dawgs. Kaitlin Villars was the winning goalkeeper. Robbins was named FHS’ top defender.
