Three local boys win events

Jesuit won the team portion of the boys’ meet with 315 points over Catholic High (228) as 27 teams were eligible for points.

Archbishop Rummel (212) was third, followed by Northshore (171) and Fontainebleau (169).

Mandeville (151) took sixth, while St. Paul’s (66) was 11th and Slidell (19) was 20th.

The competition featured a pair of double winners in Jesuit teammates Brian Carr and Marc Dorsey.

Dorsey captured the 100-yard backstroke in 51.21 seconds, and he took the 200-individual medley in 1:52 over Rummel’s Curtis Binegar (1:55). Dorsey was also part of a 200-freestyle relay squad that finished first in 1:25 and the 200-medley relay team that also took the top spot in 1:36.

Carr was first in the 200-freestyle (1:42) over Baton Rouge’s Hayden Neubig (1:44). He also topped the field in the 500-free (4:39) over Northshore’s Adam Pennington (4:43). Carr was also part of the Blue Jays’ 400 freestyle relay (3:18) and the 200 medley relay squad as Jesuit swept the relays.

The local winners included Slidell’s Thomas Schwertz (21.44) in the 50 free. Mandeville’s Philip Gallego (47.35) captured the 100-free and MHS’ Walter Loop (59.66) won the 100 breast.

The other non-local finisher was Spencer May (51.01)in the 100 butterfly.
