School board committee approves construction bid

The St. Tammany Parish School Board’s committee as a whole meeting on business affairs and administration on Thursday recommended acceptance of the Brock Elementary School renovations as substantially complete.

Brock’s teachers and students will be moving into the almost-new school building Monday and Tuesday. The project included a 12-classroom addition as well as renovation of damage sustained in Hurricane Katrina. The entire project cost is $8.6 million, funded by bonds and FEMA.

The committee also recommended the Mandeville High School ProStart Kitchen, which will enable culinary instruction in a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen, be accepted as substantially complete and recommended the acceptance of a $2.3 million bid by Ragusa Construction LLC for renovations to Slidell High School of two main hallways, five classrooms, a band room and restrooms between the hallways.
