St Paul’s routs Hammond

St. Paul’s Wolves rolled post the Hammond Tornadoes 9-0 Tuesday in the district opener for both clubs at Hammond.

SPS (4-2) got two goals from Seth Hagan. Jordan Daigle’s header off an assist by Scott Mayer put the Wolves on the board. Hagan netted the next two goals assisted by Adrian McInnis and Mayer. Zachary Perret finished off a goal assisted by Wes Lee to give the Wolves a 4-0 halftime lead. William Crawford and Christian Kessenich added unassisted goals to push the lead to 6-0. Jon Fogarty then put in a header assisted by Kessenich. Kale Ordoyne joined the scoring column with Kessenich registering another assist.

Mayer finished off the Wolves’ scoring assisted by McInnis. Winning goalie Bryan Bowers recorded four saves. Michael Gegenheimer played goal during the last few minutes.

FHS blanks Northshore

Fontainebleau senior Peyton Adkins notched two goals Tuesday night leading the Bulldogs to a 2-0 district opening victory against the Northshore Panthers in a match played at NHS. FHS (6-0-1) got on the board with Adkins’ first goal coming in the eighth minute. He followed it up with the game’s final goal in the 21st minute. Senior Brett Duncan was credited with assists on Adkins’ goals making two nice crosses from the left side.

HS coach Budd Ditchendorf named Brad Montreuil as the Bulldogs’ top defender. FHS goalkeeper Matt Harris posted the shut out with two saves. The Bulldogs’ defense limited Northshore (3-2, 0-1) to just three shots, while FHS generated five shots in the first half and three in the second. Ditchendorf credited Northshore with playing a strong defensive match. “I was really proud of the way my players unlocked an organized and stingy Northshore defense. I suspected they would come out playing strong defense and they did. Peyton (Adkins) finished off two incredible team effort goals,” Ditchendorf said. Chris Davis was in goal for Northshore.

CHS trims Ponchatoula

Covington’s Lions downed the Ponchatoula Green Wave 3-1 Tuesday in the district opener for both teams played at CHS. The Lions came back from a 1-0 deficit. CHS’ Ronald Garay put the Lions on the board with an unassisted goal in the 30th minute to tie the match at 1-1. Stephen Baudean tallied a goal near the end of the first half off a corner kick by Phil McKee to give the Lions a 2-1 halftime lead. Chris Cassaday closed out the scoring assisted by Austin Inman. Luke Baudean was named the Lions’ top defender.

FHS blanks Northshore

Fontainebleau’s Lady Bulldogs shutout the Northshore Lady Panthers 4-0 Tuesday on two goals by Lauren Ritch and one goal each by Samantha Maxwell and Casey Adkins to open district play at Northshore. Ritch opened Fontainebleau’s scoring at the 8:42 mark assisted by Caitlin Leumas. Maxwell tallied in the 37th minute assisted by Hannah Leumas to give the Lady Bulldogs a 2-0 halftime lead.

Ritch notched her second goal eight minutes into the second half assisted by Maxwell. Adkins closed out the scoring off an assist from Hannah Leumas. FHS keeper Caitlin Villars posted the shutout, while Sydney Robbins was named the top defender. 

SSA routs Hammond

St. Scholastica Academy scored early and often Tuesday opening district play with a 9-0 thrashing of Hammond on the road. Tricia Johnson registered a hat trick and also assisted on two goals. Kelly Gautreaux knocked in two goals and was also credited with two assists. Gautreaux scored the first two goals coming in the first and third minute assisted by Johnson. Johnson went on a scoring spree to notch her hat trick, with the Doves’ next three goals in the 14th, 17th and 18th minutes of play. Gautreaux assisted on two of the goals, while Ashley Martinez assisted on the other. Martinez netted a goal in the 39th minute on Sarah Wells’ assist to give the Doves a 6-0 halftime lead. Laura Brady netted a goal three minutes into the second half assisted by Mandy Salles. SSA made it 8-0 on an owned goal. Lauren Salles finished the scoring in the 57th minute of play assisted by Kirsten Rinck. SSA improved to 3-1 on the season.

Ponchatoula

edges CHS

Ponchatoula’s Lady Green Wave topped the Covington Lady Lions 3-1 Tuesday in the district opener for both clubs. PHS held a 2-0-halftime lead. Jen Watkins tallied the Lady Lions’ lone goal in the 62nd minute assisted by Devan Perez to cut the lead to 2-1. CHS named Amelia Newman its top defender. Covington fell to 1-7.  

PRHS’ Treese

nets hat tricks

Pearl River’s Kim Treese scored three goals and dished out two assists in a 6-0 victory over Academy of Our Lady in a road match held Wednesday.

PRHS (2-1) led 4-0 at halftime with Mary Beth Ohlenforst posting the first goal in the 26th minute. Just a minute later, Treese tallied her first goal as she kicked it from the right and got it inside the right post.

In the 38th minute, Treese scored again on a direct kick, making it 3-0. In the 39th minute, PRHS went ahead 4-0 on a corner kick.

Treese sent the corner kick to Kayla Dendinger, who put it in the goal. In the second half, the Lady Rebels didn’t score until the 75th minute when Treese sent the ball down the middle and Ohlenforst recorded her second goal.

At the end of the match, Treese completed the hat trick on a penalty kick. PRHS Jeannie Beaushaw named Robin Smith her top defender.
