St. Paul’s routs Slidell High

St. Paul’s Wolves went on a scoring frenzy Friday night at home cruising past the Slidell Tigers 10-0 to move to 2-0 in district play. St. Paul’s moved to 5-2 overall.

SPS’ Adrian McInnis netted the Wolves first goal on a free kick from outside the 18. Jordan Daigle delivered two goals, the first assisted by Seth Hagan. Zack Perret contributed two goals on assists by Scott Mayer and Hagan.

In the second half there was an own goal off a Slidell defensive player. Blake Sellers then scored twice, once off an assist from Christian Kessenich. William Crawford shot from outside the 18 for a score followed by a Wes Lee goal with Kessenich earning an assist.

St. Paul’s winning goalie was Bryan Bowers. Blake Sellers was named the Wolves’ top defender.

Slidell goakeeper James Dingham had eight saves with Chris Barnes being selected as the Tigers’ top defender. 

St. Paul’s captain Chad Cox said the Wolves implemented the game plan with positive results. 

“We made the opponents play hard. We went into the game with a plan and we were able to implement the plan.”

Captain Scott Mayer said the Wolves showed its depth.

“We were able to let all our players into the game and we showed the depth of our team tonight scoring five goals in the first half and five goals in the second half.  We’re in the process of gelling,” Mayer said. 

Mandeville blanks Ponchatoula

 

Mandeville shut out the Ponchatoula Green Wave 2-0 Friday on the road as the Skippers earned their second consecutive district victory. The Skippers are 7-2 overall. MHS’ Aaron Noelke netted the Skippers’ first goal in the 19th minute assisted by senior captain Chris Campbell. Logan Sullivan added an unassisted goal in the 30th minute. Mandeville took seven shots on goal.

MHS goalkeeper Hall Lyons record four saves in the shutout. Sophomore Brennan Breaux was named MHS’ top defender.
