FHS downs Covington

Fontainebleau’s Bulldogs defeated Covington’s Lions 4-1 Friday in district play on Blake Forest’s two goals at the Dawg Pound. The match was tight in the first half with Forest giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. It was the only goal of the first half.

Peyton Adkins and Datonye Charles added one goal each. FHS named Brad Montreuil its top defender. Senior Matt Harris was the winning goalkeeper.

FHS (7-0-1) upped its district record to 2-0, heading into yesterday’s match with Mandeville. CHS (5-2-2) slipped to 1-1 going into yesterday’s home match with Hammond. Alan Didier scored the Lions’ only goal on a penalty kick in the final seconds. CHS’ Luke Baudean was named the Lions’ top defender. CHS coach Jimmy Inman said center midfielder Ronald Garay played a strong first half for the Lions, but became ill and was unable to return in the second half.

Northshore High

blanks Hammond

Northshore’s Tyler Morrison scored two goals Friday night, helping his team shutout Hammond, 3-0, in a district match.

NHS (4-2) was 1-1 in district play at Tuesday’s press time.

The contest was scoreless at halftime, but the Panthers netted three goals in the second half to win it.

Kyle Hoppens had the other goal for NHS. Panther’s coach Ryan Lazaroe named Ryan Maddox his top defender.

Girls

FHS blanks Covington

Fontainebleau’s Lady Bulldogs shut out the Covington Lady Lions Friday 7-0 in district play at the Dawg Pound behind two goals each by freshmen Morgan Meyer and Caitlin Leumas. Casey Adkins, Laurel Upton and Kaley Blanton added one goal each. Upton, Mallory Richardson and Sydney Robbins were credited with two assists each, while Lauren Ritch delivered one. FHS took a 5-0 halftime lead.

Alexa Herbers was named the Lady Bulldogs’ top defender while goalkeeper Kaitlyn Villars posted the shutout. Fontainebleau (4-1) moved to 2-0 in district play, heading into yesterday’s match with Mandeville. CHS (1-8) fell to 0-2 in district action. Senior Amelia Newman was named the Lady Lions’ top defender.
