Pearl River soccer team loses to Holy Cross

Pearl River’s boys soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Holy Cross Tigers in the district opener Tuesday at PRHS. The Rebels are 2-5-5 this season. Holy Cross’ goal came in the first half. Pearl River coach Bob DeVall named Kevin Dancer his top defender.

Slidell beats St. Thomas Aquinas in basketball

Slidell’s D.J. Dauphin scored 20 points to lead the Tigers past St. Thomas Aquinas, 54-43, in a home basketball game Tuesday. SHS was 5-6 heading into Friday’s contest after winning its last 3-of-4. Kenyati Crisp and Logan Jordan each put up 10 for Slidell.

Slidell goes 2-1 in Bonnabel’s basketball tournament

Slidell’s Tigers went 2-1 in the Bonnabel Tournament Dec. 4-6. Alex Hill was named to the all-tournament team for the Tigers.

SHS began the competition by falling to Thibodaux, 68-45, on Dec. 4. Armand Williams recorded 11 points, while Fred Wise registered 10.

On Dec. 5, the Tigers came back and beat John Ehret, 48-46. D.J. Dauphin and Michael Norman each had 11, while Hill tallied nine.

On the next day, Slidell collected a 56-40 victory over the host school behind Hill’s 20 points. Josh Richardson added 12 points in the win.
