District 6-IV all-district volleyball named

Pearl River senior middle Gabby Jeansonne was rewarded for her season by being named to the 6-4A (Division II) All District volleyball first team.

During the district season, Jeansonne tallied 101 kills with 28 digs, 23 blocks and eight aces.

This season, the Lady Rebels were 11-10 overall and 5-3 in district, but did not go to postseason. Pearl River lost in a second-place tiebreaker match district against Riverdale.

The first team was dominated by Division II state champion Cabrini, who also had the District’s Most Valuable Player in senior middle Kayla McGee, and Coach of the Year Greg S. Castillo.

Three seniors from the Crescents made first team, including McGee, outside hitter Cortney Blackwell and libero (defensive specialist) and Sharon Rainey. Cabrini’s other two first-teamers were junior middle Alexis Robichaux and sophomore setter Taylor Zeigler.

Riverdale had two players garnering first-team honors, junior outside hitter Victoria Techie and junior middle Raven Lewis.

East Jefferson senior outside hitter Kristin Kelley also made the first team.

The second team featured two Pearl River players and one from Salmen, Lady Rebels’ senior middle Caitlyn Harper and libero Kim Treese and Salmen libero Aeriel Lara.

The rest of the squad included Cabrini senior right-side player Jessica Holmes and sophomore outside hitter Mallory Feraci.

Riverdale junior liberos Rebba Heigle and Staci Eaton made the second team.

East Jefferson junior outside hitter Olivia Stauffer was also named to the team.

Pearl River junior setter Carly Jordan and Salmen setter Monique Pack were named honorable mention.

The non-local honorable mention players were Riverdale senior middle Caitlin Ridgley and junior outside hitter Erica Harrington.

Cabrini sophomore libero Jaina Alsandor was an honorable mention along with East Jefferson sophomore setter Jennifer Sarasino.
