FHS blanks Ponchatoula

Fontainebleau’s Lady Bulldogs remained unbeaten in district Tuesday, blanking the Ponchatoula Lady Green Wave 4-0 in a match played at PHS.

FHS (7-1) moved to 5-0 in district and is tied with St. Scholastica Academy.

The two teams square off this afternoon at 5:30 at SSA. Both clubs have only allowed their opponents one goal in five district matches.

Kaley Blanton tallied FHS’ first goal in the 11th minute assisted by Lauren Ritch. FHS padded its lead to 2-0 just a minute later with Casey Adkins scoring assisted by Ritch.

Ritch notched a goal of her own in the 22nd minute.

Hannah Leumas finished off the scoring for the Lady Dawgs in the 60th minute.

Senior captain Sydney Robbins was named the Lady Bulldogs’ top defender.                                  

FHS’ Kaitlyn Villars tended goal in the first half, and Hannah Hail played the second half. FHS dominated play attempting 25 shots on goal and held Ponchatoula without a quality shot.  

Slidell blanks Hammond

Slidell’s Julie Collier posted two goals and two assists in a 9-0 victory over Hammond during a district match Tuesday at SHS. The Lady Tigers (2-4) are 1-4 in district play.

Whitney McCabe and Abbey Brown each had a netter and an assist. Amy Kern scored on a penalty kick.

Whitney Campbell, Stephanie Warren, Yulia Marin and Heather Nikolas all had goals for SHS.

Boys

Slidell falls

to Hammond

Slidell suffered a 3-2 defeat against Hammond in a district match Tuesday at SHS.

Slidell (1-5-1) is 0-5 in district play.

Hammond took a 1-0 lead, but Slidell countered when Chris Canales tied the contest with an unassisted goal in the 20th minute.

The match stayed knotted at 1-1 until the second half, when the Tornadoes scored in the 45th minute.

Slidell retied the match on a goal by Chris Barnes, who scored off a rebound from a shot by Canales.

Hammond tallied the winning goal in the 65th minute.
