According to Slidell police spokesman Capt. Kevin Foltz, the incident started at a Slidell bar in Olde Towne Thursday night where Jose Romero, 22, 1813 Kings Row, Slidell, and Jarrett P. Narcisse, 24, 1508 Kings Row, got into an argument over a girl. It seems the argument started when one of the men got jealous because the girl favored one man over another, according to witnesses.
Romero and Narcisse left the bar but continued their argument on their cell phones.

Romero later told police that after he got the gun, Navarre approached him in a threatening manner, and Romero fired the gun, hitting Navarre in the right thigh.
Though wounded, witnesses said Navarre charged at Romero and chased him back into the Waffle House, where both of them started fighting. At the same time, Narcisse got into a fight with a friend of Romero, Gino D. Catalanotto, 22, 202 E. Grand Hommes, St. Bernard, who had showed up to help Romero.
When police arrived on the scene at about 2:17 a.m. they found the group of people in the parking lot, still arguing. Romero was identified as the shooter by witnesses, and police recovered Romero’s gun.
Before the ambulance took Navarre to the hospital for treatment, Slidell police issued him a summons for disturbing the peace by fighting.
Romero was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery and on an outstanding warrant for probation violation. Navarre and Catalanotto were each charged with disturbing the peace by fighting. Narcisse was also charged with disturbing the peace by fighting plus contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, because his under-age brother was there during the fighting and shooting.
Romero was taken to the St. Tammany Parish Jail after booking, where he awaits a bond hearing.
