Faulk to play on national TV

Northshore High offensive lineman Chris Faulk, a verbal LSU commitment, will take his talents to the national stage tomorrow when he plays against some of the country’s elite in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

The contest will take place in the Alamodome in San Antonio with kickoff set for noon.

Faulk (6-foot-6, 315 pounds), who recently performed in the Joe Johnson Lake Pontchartrain All-Star Football Classic at the Louisiana Superdome, will be wearing No. 60 for West squad.

The game features 90 of the nation’s best high school football players.

Since it started in 2001, 93 players have been drafted. Two participants have won the Heisman Trophy and three have captured the Maxwell Award. Three players have been selected BCS Bowl MVPs.

In the pros, eight players have made it to the Pro Bowl, one has won the Pro Bowl MVP (Minnesota Vikings’ running back Adrian Peterson). There have been two Rookies of the Year and three Superbowl Champions.

This season, Faulk helped lead the Northshore Panthers to a 7-2 regular season without allowing a sack. He was named first-team all-district for 6-5A. NHS’ season came to an end in the bi-district round of the playoffs after a 34-12 loss.

Chris is the son of Harris and Christine Faulk of Slidell.
