An 18-wheeler carrying propane was exiting Interstate 12 near Goodbee late Thursday evening when it ran off the road and overturned, tying up traffic for several hours.

It happened about 11:15 p.m. when the truck, traveling eastbound, ran off the exit ramp at Louisiana Highway 1077. According to Sgt. Donald Pierce of Louisiana State Police, Troop L, the driver overturned when he attempted to correct the situation.

“He ran into a ditch when he left the roadway and overcorrected,” said Pierce. “That’s when he flipped over.”

Pierce said no one was injured in the accident, and no propane was spilled, but the exit was shut down for about 10 hours while crews worked to unload the propane and upright the vehicle. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the accident.
