Parish Councilman Marty Gould, charged with drunk driving on the Causeway after a New Orleans Saints game, pleaded guilty Dec. 17 during his arraignment, Rick Wood, District Attorney spokesman, said Tuesday.

Gould, stopped by police Nov. 25, was issued a breath analyzer test and blew a .204, more than double the legal limit of .08. At the time authorities noticed Gould’s forehead was bloody, and he told authorities he fell down during the game, Causeway Police Chief Nick Congemi said at the time.

Gould, 52, of 300 Buckthorn Circle near Covington, recently was re-elected to this second term serving District 5, received the standard punishment for first time drunk driving offenders, Wood said.

He was ordered to pay a $350 fine and placed on two years’ supervised probation. In addition, Gould must serve 32 hours of community service and complete substance abuse classes.

During the arraignment, Gould also pleaded guilty to improper lane usage and was ordered to pay a $50 fine. Congemi said at the time of Gould’s arrest that officers stopped him because he was swerving.
