St. Paul’s Wolves came up short Saturday, losing to Central High of Baton Rouge 58-49.
Central junior point guard Josh Veals led all scorers with 20 points followed by Danny Sumner with 16. St. Paul’s Josh White led the Wolves with 16 points. He also had four rebounds. Derek Arnold tallied 10 points and six rebounds.

Central held a 33-20 halftime lead. St. Paul’s coach Mike Toups said the Wolves’ attack was hampered when senior Jeff Coote fractured his ankle early in the second quarter. Toups referred to Coote as the heart and soul of the Wolves’ club.
“Jeff is a tough player, who knows how to control the pace of the game. His spirit and presence was and will be missed,” Toups said
MHS tops
Rummel
Mandeville’s Skippers won their ninth consecutive game defeating the Rummel Raiders 51-43 Saturday in a non-district game played at Rummel. MHS’ Jordane Ganapamo scored a game-high 21 points with four assists. Brandon Weeden finished with eight points and eight rebounds followed by Chad Alfaro and Josh Priola, who added six points each to the Skippers’ attack.
Priola dished off six assists and recorded four steals. MHS moved to 15-6 on the season, heading into yesterday’s District 7-5A play against St. Paul’s.
Pope John Paul II beats De La Salle
Pope John Paul II’s Jaguars knocked off the De La Salle Cavaliers, 52-46, in a home game held Saturday. PJP was 13-3 at Tuesday’s press time.
Scott Joffe led the Jags with 19 points and Ryan Palmisano tallied 16.
NCS defeats Crescent City
Northlake Christian ran past Crescent City 68-48 Saturday at home led by Josh Ryan’s 15 points including three treys. Alex Reed netted 12 points and Carter Fitzgerald added 11.
Will Werner and Josh Seale delivered six points each. NCS upped its season record to 7-6, heading into yesterday’s District 7-1A home opener with Southern Lab.

Ecole Classique
Northlake Christian’s Wolverines defeated Ecole Classique 64-37 last Thursday on the road behind Josh Ryan’s 18 points including two 3-pointers. Alex Reed contributed 14 points followed by Carter Fitzgerald with nine and Taylor Bazzell added seven.
