McNeese State University senior John Pichon, a 2004 Slidell High graduate, recorded the school’s third ever triple-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in his team’s 84-75 victory over Wiley College in front of the home crowd Wednesday.

St. Paul’s Varsity Wrestling Wolves captured the District 7-5A Dual Meet Championship held Jan. 3 at Fontainebleau High. The Wolves defeated Mandeville’s Skippers 54-24, topped Fontainebleau’s Bulldogs 55-7 and took the Northshore Panthers 60-3.

Mandeville's Lady Skippers tame the Loranger Wolves

Mandeville’s Lady Skippers put together a strong defensive fourth quarter Friday night to scratch out a 53-37 non-district victory over the Loranger Lady Wolves at home. MHS senior Amy Howard posted a game-high 19 points, including 7-of-10 from the free throw line in the second half. Freshman Hannah Tracey turned in a strong performance for the Lady Skippers finishing with 15 points. Tracey netted eight of her points in the fourth quarter. Kelsey Sparks chipped in with eight points and did a nice job rebounding for the Lady Skippers, while Mel Gaines added six points in the balanced attack.
