Covington Lady Lions play West Jeff and Chalmette

Covington’s Lady Lions blanked West Jefferson 4-0 in non-district play on Saturday in a match played at West Jeff.

CHS upped its overall record to 5-11. Kayleigh Wilbert tallied the Lady Lions’ first goal assisted by Kristin Lopez.

Amelia Newman made it 2-0 scoring on a penalty kick, which gave CHS a 2-0 halftime lead.

Devan Perez tallied an unassisted goal in the second half and Lopez finished off the scoring on a penalty kick. CHS’ Jessica Miller posted the shutout and Amelia Newman was tabbed as the top defender.

The Lady Lions shutout the Chalmette Lady Owls 7-0 Dec. 29 at Chalmette.

Perez netted a hat trick. She tallied the first two goals assisted by Wilbert and Amelia Newman. Wilbert scored next assisted by Allison Ostendorf.

Perez followed with an unassisted goal and Andrea Tyson closed out the first half scoring punching in an unassisted goal for a 5-0 halftime lead. Marcy Schaffer scored in the second half assisted by Melinda Newman.

Claire Montgomery finished off the Lady Lions’ scoring assisted by Tyson. CHS’ Devon Radecker recorded the shutout with Kelsey Brown being named the top defender.
