George Thorne

Family? (Married? Children?) Married, three children and five grandchildren.

Describe yourself in one word. Caring.

Hobbies: Fishing

What do you do in your spare time? When I’m not fishing I like to read or go to the movies.

What’s your favorite food? Roast beef with rice and gravy.

Name a good book you’ve read recently. “The Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell. It’s a book that gives insight to why some people are more successful then others.

What was the last movie you watched? “Four Christmases”

What drives you crazy? (Pet peeves): People driving slow in the left lane of the highway.

What do you do for fun in St. Tammany? Boating and fishing.

What’s your ideal vacation? Taking the grandkids to Disney World.

What’s the best thing about you? My sense of humor.

Who has had the greatest impact on your life? How? The first part of my life it would have to be my mother, who taught me right from wrong. After that it would be my wife Patsy, who taught me how to have compassion and consideration for others.

What do you want to see happen in St. Tammany? I’d like to see it stay as it is. I know it’s going to be hard to stop “progress,” but it would be nice if we could slow it down. St. Tammany is a beautiful place to live.

Backyard Chat: A Weekly Q&A is a new feature that will run on Wednesday’s in St. Tammany News in order to acquaint parish residents with their neighbors.
