CHS plays in St. Amant Tourney

Covington’s Lady Lions lost both of its games in the St. Amant Basketball Tournament held Dec. 29-30. CHS fell to Central of Baton Rouge 50-38.

Gloria Darby led the Lady Lions with 10 points followed by Emily Smith with nine points.

Charlishia Bradford chipped in with five points.

CHS trailed 29-19 at the half. In its second game Dec. 30, Covington was defeated by Live Oak 65-58 in overtime. The game was tied 57-57 at the end of regulation play.

Live Oak outscored CHS 8-1 in the overtime period to secure the victory. Charlishia Bradford topped CHS with 17 points followed by Myria Cyprian with 12 and Emily Smith with 10.

NCS falls to

Southern Lab

Southern Lab defeated the Northlake Christian School Lady Wolverines Tuesday, 39-21, in district play at NCS.

NCS (12-7) slipped to 1-2 in district action.

NCS’ Hope Fitzgerald topped the Lady Wolverines with nine points and four rebounds. Caitlyn Anderson finished with seven points.

Southern Lab held a 27-14 halftime lead.

PJP beats French Settlement

Pope John Paul II’s Lady Jaguars captured a 51-43-road victory over French Settlement in a district game held Tuesday. PJP (9-11) is 2-1 in district play.

Danielle Olivier scored 17 points with six rebounds and four steals. Christa Roscigno posted 12 points and six rebounds. Shelly Pontiff tallied three points, 13 rebounds, eight steals, five assists and two blocks. PJP also got great production from its bench, which scored 10 points.
