MHS downs Slidell

Mandeville senior Amy Howard posted a game-high 20 points with seven rebounds and three steals to lead the Lady Skippers to a 56-40 district home victory over the Slidell Lady Tigers. MHS (9-6) moved to 4-0 in District 7-5A play, going into yesterday’s game with Ponchatoula.

MHS’ Mel Gaines finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals for the Lady Skippers. Kelsey Sparks chipped in with nine points, six rebounds and a steal, while Adrienne Myers scored five points with three rebounds and two steals.

Katie Lindelow added two points, five rebounds and two steals with Karin Hicks contributing two points, three rebounds and a steal.

SHS’ Kameron Lacoste topped the Lady Tigers with 14 points followed by Lillian McAbee with 13. Bianca Navarre added six points.

Slidell took a 10-7 lead after the first quarter, but Mandeville battled back to outscore the Lady Tigers 16-13 to make it a 23-23 tie at the half.

Both teams scored 12 points each in the third quarter before Mandeville outscored Slidell 21-5 in the decisive fourth quarter.

PJP falls to St. Thomas Aquinas

Pope John Paul II suffered a 64-31 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas in a home-district game Friday night.

Shelly Pontiff led the Lady Jaguars with 10 points and eight rebounds, while Danielle Olivier finished with eight points, nine rebounds.

Christa Roscigno added eight points for PJP.
