What is your name? Where do you teach? Kayce Cummings, Madisonville Elementary School.

What subjects do you teach? Math, English language arts (which includes spelling, language and reading), science and social studies. Art, music and PE are integrated within these subjects.

What is your favorite thing about the subjects you teach? My favorite thing about the subjects I teach are that they can connect to the real world for my students.

How long have you been a teacher? This is my sixth year.

How has the profession of teaching changed since you started? One thing that has changed is the availability of technology within the classroom.

Why did you become a teacher? I became a teacher to help my students achieve success for their future.

What is your favorite thing about teaching? My favorite thing about teaching is my students.

Do you do anything special in the classroom to get through to your students? I try very hard to help meet my students’ needs.

What is the hardest part of your job? The hardest part of my job is accepting that some situations for students are beyond my control.

Are you involved in any extra curricular activities at the school? Science Day, Technology Committee and Grade Level Co-Chair.

Do you utilize any special technology in the classroom? We’ve had our Promethean Boards for a year.

We love to use our board.

Have you received any grants to aid you in the classroom? No.

What do you do during your summer vacations? Reading, swimming and spending time with family and friends.

Do you aspire to become a principal one day? No.

What’s the craziest thing that has ever happened while you were teaching? A crazy alien called “The Multiplicator” came one day while we were learning about multiplication. It was very crazy an alien would show up.
