East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity will host more than 70 volunteers from around St. Tammany Parish and neighboring states during its Women Build Mother’s Day celebration all next week Monday through Friday.

Volunteers will work to finish construction on nine homes sponsored by Hairdressers Unlocking Hope in the Terrace Park Subdivision.

In honor of Mother’s Day, each participant will be have the opportunity to dedicate their labor in honor of a woman who has significantly influenced their own life, a way to say “thank you” to a special woman who helped them improve their quality of living.

Volunteers, sponsors and Habitat officials will celebrate the week with a crawfish boil at Ducksworth Park to honor and recognize the influential women that brought them altogether.

East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity has served over 100 families in the area. In June 2008 it was named the 14th largest Habitat affiliate out of 1,700 affiliates serving in the United States.

Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program that encourages women to make a difference by building homes and communities. Each build provides an environment in which women can feel comfortable learning construction skills they might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn.
