The deadline is nearing for applications to the Decentralized Arts Funding program serving the arts communities of St. Tammany and St. Bernard parishes.

Applications are due by 4 p.m. June 1, and application forms and guidelines are available to download from the St. Tammany Parish Government Web site at www.stpgov.org/arts.

Grants are available for arts organizations, nonprofit or government entities whose mission is to provide arts programming to the public and nonprofits producing activities in the disciplines of music, theater, visual arts and crafts, dance, literature, design arts and folk life.

All projects must occur between Oct. 1, 2009, and Sept. 30, 2010, and each applicant may apply for up to two grants.

Applications may be mailed or hand-delivered to the Commission on Cultural Affairs, 21490 Koop Drive, Suite 200, Mandeville, LA 70471.

DAF grants are available from the Louisiana Division of the Arts as administered by the Commission on Cultural Affairs, St. Tammany Parish Government.

The purpose of the program is to support arts and cultural projects in every parish of the state. Applicants compete only with other organizations in their parish and a diverse review panel comprised of members of the community decides the recipients.

The Louisiana Division of the Arts is a division of the Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Office of the Lt. Governor, State of Louisiana. Questions may be directed to the St. Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs at 898-5243.
