‘Proof’ at Playmakers

“Proof,” a drama by David Auburn, is now being performed at Playmakers Theater, 19106 Playmakers Road in Covington, through May 24.

Cast includes Krista Schafer as Catherine, Sam Pickens as Hal, Robert Jahncke as Robert and Kathi Zenor as Claire. The play is directed by Larry Gray. Stage manager is Hunter Christopher.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. For reservations, call 626-3392.

International film night at library

The Slidell branch library will present an International Film Summer Matinee series Saturdays.

The film schedule follows:

Saturday, “Son of the Bride 2001” (Spanish with English subtitles) 2002 nominated for Best Foreign Film (Argentina), 2-4 p.m.;

June 20, “Run Lola Run” (German with English subtitles) (Germany), 2-4 p.m.; and

July 18, “Devdas” (India), 2-5 p.m.

Doors open at 1:30 p.m. The film presentation will begin at 2 p.m. Popcorn and cookies will be served. The films are for viewing by adults 18 years or over and seating is limited.

Instructors sought for art program

The Slidell Art League is seeking instructors for several weeklong children’s workshops for children this summer.

Workshops will be held in June and July. Classes will be split into two age groups, ages 7-9, which will meet Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon, and ages 10 to 12, which will meet Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Anyone with a passion for art who enjoys working with children is asked to submit dates and times available, desired subject matter and age groups, a short biography, artwork samples, proposed fee.

Dulcimer music

at Slidell library

The St. Tammany Parish Library will present “Sweet Summertime Dulcimer Music” at three library branches with The Bayou Dulcimer Club, a local non-profit organization, which promotes interest in and educates others about dulcimers.

The group will perform traditional and contemporary music written and arranged for the Appalachian or mountain dulcimer.

This 90-minute presentation will consist of a short description and history of dulcimers, as well as a musical performance.

The program will be held from 7-7:45 p.m., May 28, Mandeville branch library; 10-11:30 a.m. May 30 at the Covington branch library, 310 W. 21st Ave.; and 6-7:30 p.m. June 8 at the Slidell Branch library meeting room, 555 Robert Blvd.

Country in the Park upcoming

The Mandeville Seafood Festival will present “Country in the Park” on July 2 in Fontainebleau State Park featuring Mark Chesnutt, Sammy Kershaw and Christian Serpas & Ghost Town.

Gate open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 the day of the show and are available online at www.seafoodfest.com or at all Whitney Bank locations and H&R Block in Mandeville.
