The Slidell Police Department is asking the public’s help in finding an armed robber who stole money from the Subway sandwich shop on Brownswitch Road Monday.

Around 5:15 p.m. Monday, a white male entered the shop and then left. According to the clerk, the same man then came back into the store, approached the counter and ordered the clerk to hand over money from the cash register. The clerk told the robber she was going to call the police, but the man pulled a black semi-automatic handgun with a laser sight from his waist band and again demanded money. The clerk obeyed and handed the suspect an undisclosed amount of money. The man then left the store and fled in an unknown direction.

The robber is described as having a heavy build, and was wearing a blue baseball cap, dark sunglasses, a light blue or gray T-shirt and light blue jeans.

This surveillance photo shows the suspected armed robber of a Subway Sandwich Shop on Brownswitch Road Monday afternoon.

According to the police the clerk did not call the police for about 30 minutes, because she did not speak English and was waiting for her husband to come to the store to translate for her.

When police arrived, they made a search of the area with a K-9 unite but were not able to find the suspect.

This is the second armed robbery in a week. Police ares still looking for the man who robbed the ABC School Uniform store on Robert Boulevard May 8.

If anybody has information on either of these robberies, they should call either the Slidell Police Detective Division at 646-4347, or CrimeStoppers at 1-877-903-7867. Those who call CrimeStoppers may be eligible for a cash reward, if their information leads to an arrest.
