Less than 24 hours after a Subway shop on Brownswitch Road was robbed at gunpoint, another store on Sgt. Alfred Drive, just blocks away from the Slidell Police Department headquarters, was robbed by a gunman Tuesday afternoon.

This is the third armed robbery of a Slidell store in five days. On May 8, the ABC School Uniform Shop on Robert Boulevard was robbed of an unknown amount of cash by a lone gunman.

Then police responded to the Brownswitch robbery Monday afternoon.

Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. Slidell police answered the third armed robbery call at Latino Products on Sgt. Alfred Drive.

According to police, a store employee said a Latino male speaking Spanish with a Mexican dialect entered the store and ordered two tostados. He paid for the food and took the tostados to a 1980s model red Toyota Corolla and handed the food to another Hispanic male in the car.

The suspect then came back to the store and ordered two more tostados. When the clerk opened the cash register to make change, the suspect pulled a black handgun from his rear pocket and ordered the clerk to give him all the money in the register.

The robber took the money, ran to the Toyota and fled the scene with the other male.

A witness said they saw the Toyota leave the parking lot in a hurry, headed toward Old Spanish Trail.

The suspect is described as being about 5-foot 3 and was last seen wearing a red T-shirt and black shorts.

The suspect in the Subway robbery had a black semi automatic handgun with a laser sight and was described as being heavily built.

He was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, sunglasses, a light blue or gray T-shirt and blue jeans.

In the May 8 robbery, the suspect was described as being between 6 feet and 6-foot-2 with a husky build. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve black shirt, sunglasses and a black hat.

Slidell police spokesman Capt. Kevin Foltz said detectives are sure the robberies on Brownswitch and Robert are related and were probably committed by the same person.

He stressed that Tuesday’s robbery on Sgt. Alfred Drive was committed by different people and not related to the first two robberies.

Anyone with information on any of the robberies should call the Slidell Police Detective Division at 646-4347 or CrimeStoppers at 1-877-903-7867.

Callers to CrimeStoppers may be entitled to a cash reward.
