Vacation Bible School upcoming

Collins Boulevard Baptist is holding Vacation Bible School June 1-5 for ages 4-12. Classes will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. at the church located at 1501 Collins Blvd., Covington (next to Cordell Furniture).

Saturday summer services return

St. Michael’s Episcopal Church will begin Saturday Summer Service in the Parish Life Center at 4:30 p.m. from June 6 to Aug. 8.

The church located at 4499 Sharp Road in Mandeville.

St. Michael’s will celebrate the Holy Eucharist using a rite from the Anglican Church of Kenya; the service is relaxed and invites participation. Parents are encouraged to bring a blanket and let the children sit on the floor. Contemporary music by Allison Kenning.

Bible School planned

Children in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to attend the Thompson Road Baptist Church Vacation Bible School from 6-8 p.m. June 7-12. This year’s theme is “Boomerang Express.”

A block party is planned at 6 p.m. June with a rock-climbing wall and inflatables for the children, along with a barbecue.

New to UU

meeting set

North Shore Unitarian Universalists will present a 90-minute “New to UU?” orientation class on June 14 at 12:30 pm.

Old members and new are welcome to attend the class which will focus on the religious beliefs and history of Unitarian Universalists.

The class will be taught by Bonnie Schmidt and Judy Rushton. A light lunch will be served.

Crocodile Dock

VBS set

Slidell Child Ministries at First United Methodist will host Crocodile Dock Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to noon June 15-19.

Children will participate in VBS in mixed age groups, call crews and will be led by adults and teens.

Crocodile Dock will include activities just for “Tiny Tadpoles” (preschoolers), team building, noncompetitive games, Bible story experiences, small group discussions, snacks, crafts, music and more.

Suggested donation is $5.

Music camp planned

First United Methodist Church is Slidell will hold Art-Is-In: The Amazing Greats, a day camp for children in kindergarten through sixth-grade. The camp is set June 22-26 and will feature music and performing arts. The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Cost is $70 per camper (all-inclusive). A final performance will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 26.

Bible study

classes upcoming

Explorer’s Bible Study classes meet in Abita Springs on Thursdays from 10-11:30 a.m. beginning Aug. 20. The weekly meetings will be held at His Courts of Praise, 22099 Louisiana Highway 36, Abita Springs.

The emphasis of this practical Bible Study is to discover what the Bible says and find timely meaning. Marni McKenzie will be leading the class in a 30-week study of the Book of Isaiah, which is one of 13 Bible courses offered encompassing the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

Classes are composed of individual preparation at home, small discussion groups with well-trained leaders, weekly lectures and printed notes and questions on each lesson. The cost for the course is $60 and scholarships are available.

XYZ meeting upcoming

The next XYZ monthly meal and program is planned to return in September meeting at 10 a.m. every Monday for crafts and potluck. The event is open to all members of the community 55 and better.

NSUU opening Fair Trade Store

The North Shore Unitarian Universalist Religious Education Department has opened a Fair Trade Store, which sells organic products such as coffee (decaf, Colombian, organic blend and French vanilla), hot chocolate, chocolate bars, tea (rooibos, green and breakfast), dried cranberries, pecans and travel mugs. These items will be for sale every Sunday morning both before and after the Worship service at 11 a.m. The proceeds from these sales will go to meet the needs of the religious education department of the church.
