Tuesday night the Planning and Zoning Commission discussed the case concerning Victory Fellowship’s request for a conditional use permit.
The church plans to use the main building Putt Putt used for its arcade games as an auditorium for services on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings, a nursery, restrooms and offices. It plans to use the former Laser Tag building as a facility for its teen and youth ministries, which meet on Thursday evenings.
The batting cage location will be used as an outdoor seating area for meetings and meditation. The putt putt course will be used as an activity area for the children.
The go-cart track will be left as is in case it is needed in the future for parking.
According to the information provided to the city, the church’s current congregation includes 150 people, and it requires 35-40 parking spaces.
The facility has 87 parking spots on site without the use of the go-cart track.
Prior to the church moving in, the owners of Putt Putt Golf and Games will remove all of their equipment.
The case will come back before the Planning and Zoning Commission next month. The commission will then make a recommendation to the City Council.
Tuesday night the commission approved a variance and a resubdivision request for Zella and David Walker’s property on Adair Street and a rezoning request for Marine Technologies LLC.
In the Walker case, the commission approved a variance allowing one of the two lots the resubdivision created to have a 75-foot frontage.
David Walker pointed out that the small frontage is not uncommon in this area of town, which has several narrow lots of record with 75- and 50-foot frontages. Both lots created by the resubdivision far exceed the city’s required total square footage.
The commission also approved a variance allowing the Walker’s former guesthouse, which is only 650 square feet, to remain as the principle structure on one of the lots.
In the Marine Technologies LLC case, the commission rezoned the property from planned residential district back to its original zoning of M-1 light manufacturing to allow the company, which has purchased the property to expand its company with the construction of another building.
Marine Technologies, bought the parcel adjacent to the one rezoned Tuesday evening when it was founded in 2002and established its headquarters in Mandeville.
Marine Technologies develops control systems for offshore vessels.
