School Board losing 1,000 years of experience to retirements

Over 1,000 years’ worth of classroom experience is retiring this year and will be hard to replace, according to St. Tammany School Board President John Lamarque.

Retirement resolutions for 32 certified employees were approved at the regular school board meeting Thursday night. Many of the professional educators had been in the classroom in excess of 20 years.

The following personnel retired, listed alphabetically by school:

Pam Kaufmann, 20 years, Bayou Woods Elementary; Vondell Millsap, 46 years, 35 in St. Tammany, Bayou Woods Elementary; Peggy Secrist, 29.79 years, Brock Elementary; Linda Watson, 30 years, 24 in St. Tammany, Carolyn Park Middle School; Deborah Rushing, 33 years, Chahta-Ima Elementary; Becki martin, 33 years, 16 years in St. Tammany, Clearwood Junior High; Stephanie Bennett, 30 years, 27 in St. Tammany, Covington Elementary; Joel Evans, 20 years, Creekside Junior High; and Ronnie Smith, 35 years, 33 in St. Tammany, Creekside Junior High.

Carla Blaisdell, 30 years, 10 in St. Tammany, Florida Avenue Elementary; Kimberly Pigg, 32.05 years, 3 years in St. Tammany, Florida Avenue Elementary; Debra Wingfield, 33.48 years, 25 in St. Tammany, Folsom Elementary; Lynn Gordon, 33 years, Honey Island Elementary; 30.35 years, 26.27 in St. Tammany, Jefferson East Center; Merry Crider, 31.40 years, 22 in St. Tammany, Harrison Curriculum Center; and Myra Rogers, 28.40 years, 17 in St. Tammany, Lyon Elementary.

Mary Stacy Smither, 18.47 years, 15.47 years in St. Tammany, Madisonville Junior High; Rodney Corkern, 34 years, 33 in St. Tammany, Mandeville High; Patricia Murray, 31.40 years, 28.40 years in St. Tammany, Mandeville High; Denise Perez, 29.86 years, 3 in St. Tammany, Monteleone Junior High; Kathleen Wiseman, 36 years, 25 in St. Tammany, principal, Pontchartrain Elementary; Jenifer Epperson, 30 years, Pearl River High; and Jo Lyn McQueen, 26 years, Riverside Elementary.
