Hotline tip leads to arrest of suspected drug dealer

An anonymous tip on the Slidell Police Department’s Narcotics Hotline led to the arrest of Mississippi man who was allegedly selling crack cocaine from a house in Slidell.

After police got the tip May 21, officers from Criminal Investigations, the Narcotics Unit and SWAT spent a week investigating several complaints that, Jason J. Dulaney, 25, 809 Telly Road, Picayune, Miss., was selling crack cocaine out of his girlfriend’s Slidell home at 111 Westchester Drive, Apartment C-8. After surveillance, police got a search warrant for the apartment.

Police said Dulaney’s girlfriend, Latisha C. Dupree, 22, was at the door. Capt. Kevin Swann, Slidell police spokesman, said Dupree was not arrested at the time of the search because she was pregnant, but he did say warrants for her arrest will be issued later. Dupree’s two children were also in the apartment.

When police found Dulaney they also discovered 18 grams of crack cocaine, drug packaging supplies and $700 in cash. Dulaney was arrested on two counts of manufacturing/sale of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of narcotics on or near a school and improper supervision of juveniles.

Swann said police read Dulaney his rights, but he waived them and told police he was selling crack cocaine and the $700 was proceeds from narcotic sales.

Dulaney was booked and taken to St. Tammany Parish Jail with no bond.
