An argument over the use of a car Saturday night resulted in one man being slashed with a broken beer bottle and another arrested for second-degree battery, according to Slidell police.

Slidell police said that according to witnesses, Cruz Davila, 50, 2020 11th St., Apartment 2, Slidell and the victim were in the parking lot of the apartment building at 2020 11th Street, drinking beer around 8 p.m. Saturday. Davila asked the victim if he could use the victim’s car. The victim refused and Davila got angry, broke a beer bottle and allegedly attacked the victim. Witnesses told police the victim fell down as he was backing away from Davila, who then stood over the victim, and began slashing at the man. The victim suffered several cuts on both arms and his stomach, police said.

Several people in a car that pulled into the parking lot ran to assist the victim and Davila ran off.

The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for his wounds. When police detectives drove him back to his apartment, they saw Davila entering his apartment. Detectives went into Davila’s apartment and found him hiding under the sheets of his bed, according to police. Police also found Davila’s bloody clothes that he wore during the alleged attack. Davila was arrested on a charge of second-degree battery, and taken to the St. Tammany Parish Jail where his bond was to be set.
