Laurie Saucier of Pearl River almost did not get her chance to win the car Saturday, according to Hollywood Casino public relations manager Bob Davidge. All winners had to be present for the giveaway, but during the drawing Saucier was not in the ballroom. The names of the winners are called, and they have five minutes to make it to the stage to collect their winnings. Saucier was in the casino, and heard her name called. She was able to get a casino security guard to escort her to the stage, and when she got there, she got the only remaining placard in the drawing, which just happened to be the winning number, and she chose a red 2009 Lexus.
Two other Louisiana residents won a Lexus last weekend. Cheryl Saul of St. Bernard Parish won a black Lexus, and a man from Denham Springs, who did not want to be identified, won a silver car, while David Marquar of Bay St. Louis, Miss., walked away with a pearl-white Lexus. The three-day giveaway was part of the casino’s Star Play game. Another 27 players won $500 in consolation prizes, Davidge said.
