LLOG Exploration’s (Mandeville High) Lee Batchelder put on an awesome power display Wednesday cranking out three home runs, while driving in eight runs to propel his club to a lopsided 19-2 four-inning home victory over Muffalatta’s Deli (Hammond High).

Batchelder ripped a two-run homer in the first inning. He followed that up with a two-run blast in the second inning before capping off his home run extravanganza with a grand slam to account for his eighth RBI in LLOG Exploration’s 11-run second inning.

“Lee was exceptional. His grand slam (third homer) was a bomb,” LLOG Exploration coach Matt Brown said.

Brown said the only other player that hit three homers for him was former MHS player Ross Hardy, who signed with Tulane. Hardy pounded three home runs against St. Paul’s in an American Legion game two summers ago.

LLOG shortstop Blake Butera chipped in, going 3-4 with two runs batted in on two doubles and a single, while center fielder Wynston Webb collected two hits with a double and a run batted in. Third baseman Nick Del Valle delivered a two-run double and a sacrifice fly for a third RBI.

LLOG Exploration pounded out 16 hits taking a 5-0 lead in the first before unloading for the 11 runs in the second courtesy primarily of Batchelder with 14 batters parading to the plate. LLOG Exploration tallied three runs in the third. Jonathan Baham (2-0) picked up the victory.

LLOG Exploration (4-2) followed up Wednesday’s victory with another scoring outburst Thursday, downing Tangi Animal Hospital (Loranger High) 15-4. Josh Henkle (1-0) went four and two-third innings for the victory. He gave up three runs on just three hits. Henkle also went 2-3 with an RBI. Ross Borrello relieved Henkle to close out the final two and one-third innings. He gave up one run on two hits with three strikeouts and a walk.

Josh D’Arcangelo connected for a two-run single. Webb produced a two-run hit and scored once, while Matt Bergeron had a hit and drove in a run.
