Lutgardo Vincent Silva, 96, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2009.

He was the beloved father of Jose L. Silva, Luke R. Silva, Mercedes Silva Perich and Teresa Silva. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Torres Silva; a son, Mike A. Silva; a daughter, Yolanda Silva; a grandson, Gilberto Romo Jr.; his mother, Consuelo Subirat Silva; and his father, Joseph Reyes Silva.

Silva was a native of Cienfuegos, Cuba, and a resident of Mandeville for the past 38 years. He was a decorated U.S. Coast Guard veteran who served in World War II.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Ann Church and National Shrine, 4940 Meadowdale Street, Metairie.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. A wake will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Ave., Covington.

Interment will follow in St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery in New Orleans.
