Women’s Self-Defense Classes upcoming

Premier Tae Kwon Do owner and master instructor Brian James is offering a Women’s Self Defense Class on Wednesday’s July 8, 15 and 22 at 7 p.m.

The cost is $75 for non-members, $30 for returning members. The cost includes a T-shirt and manual. Class size is limited to the first 15 students that register. Learn how to manage your safety, defend yourself from attackers, be proactive and get in shape.

Madisonville volleyball camp planned

The second-annual Madisonville All-Skills Volleyball Camp will take place July 6-10 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Coquille Recreation Gym. The cost is $150, which includes a camp T-shirt and volleyball. Campers will learn all the basic skills of volleyball, including passing, setting, hitting, serving, agility games and more. The camp is open to girls entering the third-eighth grades for the fall of 2009. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. on July 6 and walk-ins are welcome. Sheriff and Slidell police on the hunt for armed robber

The armed robber, who is suspected of two armed robberies last week on Brownswitch Road and Robert Boulevard in Slidell, is also suspected for the robbery of the Blockbuster Video store at the corner of Gause Boulevard and Military Road Wednesday afternoon.
