Slidell police are asking the community for help in capturing two armed robbers who stole money from the lobby cash register and purses from two guests at the Deluxe Motel on Gause Boulevard last Saturday.

According to police the two suspects came into the lobby of the motel around 9:20 p.m. The robbers waited for two men to leave the lobby, leaving three women from Houston, ages 80, 55 and 16 who were registering to stay at the motel.

As soon as the men left, one suspect jumped over the counter, held a semi-automatic handgun on the desk clerk while he emptied the cash registers of an undetermined amount of money.

Meanwhile, the other suspect grabbed the purses from the two older women, and slammed the 16-year-old against the wall when she tried to run out of the lobby.

Police said no one was injured in the robbery, but the teenager was “very shook up.” The two suspects fled the lobby and were last seen running to the rear of the motel.

Detectives in the Slidell Police Department ask that anybody who has any information on the suspects should call either 646-4347 or CrimeStoppers at 1-877-903-7867. Callers do not have to give their name to CrimeStoppers, and may be eligible for a cash reward.
