Village Church Lutheran Men’s Club golf fundraiser

The Village Church Lutheran Men’s Club located in Lacombe is sponsoring its first annual golf tournament on Sunday at Royal Golf Course in Slidell at 1 p.m. with a noon check-in.

The organization welcomes the support of sponsors. The proceeds will enable the church to contribute donations to many needy causes within the community.

Paretti Mazda will donate a 2009 CX7 Crossover to the person who sinks a hole-in-one on a par three hole.

Hole Sponsorship and Foursome: A $280 donation affords you with a hole sponsorship and a foursome as described below, a $20 savings.

Hole Sponsorship: A $100 donation affords your company advertising signage on one of the 18 holes or the longest drive, closest to the hole or putting competition and recognition at the awards banquet.

Golf Foursome: $200 affords you and three others to participate in the golf scramble tournament.

Door Prizes: In addition to great golf and fabulous food, golfers participating in the tournament are entered into a drawing for door prizes donated by sponsors. Contributions or gift certificates, discount coupons for items or services and gift items are all welcomed donations.

Ditty Bag Stuffers: Miscellaneous items for the golfer’s ditty bags.

The Village Church Lutheran has a history of helping those in need and being active in the community. For more information call 646-2073.

Sheriff and Slidell police on the hunt for armed robber

The armed robber, who is suspected of two armed robberies last week on Brownswitch Road and Robert Boulevard in Slidell, is also suspected for the robbery of the Blockbuster Video store at the corner of Gause Boulevard and Military Road Wednesday afternoon.
