second in Redfish Cup

The Redfish Cup’s Academy Sports + Outdoors Big Easy Invitational held July 30-Aug. 2 at the Gulf Outlet Marina in Chalmette is in the books and local anglers Shane Pescay (Mandeville) and Charlie Thomason (Covington) made fans on the home front proud as they earned a gritty second place finish.

Troy Twillie had a great day at the Slidell High Quarterback Club Golf Extravaganza. He was part of the winning team and he captured the longest drive along with the closest-to-the-hole contests last Friday at Pinewood Country Club.

Fore!Kids Junior Golf Tour holds annual banquet

The Fore!Kids Junior Golf Tour, presented by Cox, capped off the 2009 summer season with its annual awards banquet held Aug. 6 at the New Orleans Hilton Riverside. Thirteen local area junior golfers proved to be the big winners without taking a shot as they were recognized as the Junior Golf Tour Scholarship recipients.

Golfers compete in Arrowhead event

The Arrowhead Coca-Cola Stroke Play Championship was held July 31 to Aug. 2 at Beaver Creek Golf Club in Zachary with Brandt Garon winning the event with a 4 under par 212. Garon won the boys’ 15-19 year-old age division, carding rounds of 70, 73 and a final round 69, to capture the title by six strokes over Daniel Deloach.
