Soulier/Smoorenburg

The marriage of Theresa Elizabeth “Tess” Smoorenburg and Shawn Michael Soulier was solemnized April 25, 2009, at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Andrew Merrick officiating. Ceremony’s music was provided by vocalist Lindsey Piattoly, organist Jesse Reeks and trumpeter Barney Floyd. A reception followed at Benedict’s Plantation.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smoorenburg of Covington. The bridebroom is the son of Colleen Soulier of Baton Rouge and Edwin “Billy” and Gaynell Soulier of Jarreau.

The bride, whose mother is the former Laura LaGrange of Patterson, graduated from Mandeville High School and Louisiana State University where she received a masters’ degree in accounting. She is employed by Ernst & Young, LLP.

Smoorenburg is the granddaughter of Theresa LaGrange and the late Bernard LaGrange of Patterson and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smoorenburg of Patterson.

The bride wore a Casablanca ivory satin halter dress with French lace, gathered silk satin sash at the waist and satin buttons down the back of the mermaid skirt and semi-chapel length train. She carried an all-white bouuet of peonies, roses, dendrobium orchids, tulips and freesia wrapped in ivory satin and her great-grandmother’s handkerchief.

Chantel Smoorenburg Wilson served as matron of honor. Amanda Lanell Smith served as maid of honor. Bridemaids were Hope Wakefield, Alison Hunter, Megan LaGrange, Penny Kemp Bearb, Mary Taurman, Mattie Pourciau, Cheri Soulier and Mallory Womack. Bailey Smoorenburg, Tristan Bearb and Hailey Soulier were flower girls.

The groom, whose mother is the former Colleen Farley of Bossier City, graduated from Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee and Louisiana State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology.

He is employed by Peterbilt of Louisiana as a salesman.

Soulier is the grandson of Vera Viles of Bossier City, Dan Farley of Baton Rouge and the late Edwin Bill and Lillie Wintz Soulier of New Roads.

Billy Soulier, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Marcus Melancon, Phillip Walker, Nicholas Rockforte, Kevin Cline, Brian Scott Bearb, Bernard Minyard, Craig Gosserand, Scott Swindler and Brian Smoorenburg. Ushers were Frankie Aguillard, Barrett Glaser, Joseph Langlois, Jacob Ruiz, Jacob Talbot and Alonzo Wilson.

Following a wedding trip, the coupler will reside in New Roads.
