Students invited to attend Academy Day

High school students interested in attending a service academy in the 2010-2011 school year are invited to attend Academy Day, hosted by Congressman Steve Scalise, Saturday at Southeastern Louisiana University beginning at 10 a.m..

The event will allow students and their parents to learn about each of the five academies: the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.; the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.; the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y.; and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.

They will also learn about the Congressional nomination process, and representatives from each of the academies will be present at the event to answer any questions.

The event will take place in the university’s Lab School at 1200 N. General Pershing Drive in Hammond.
