The St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office reported that a worker at Marina Del Ray on the Tchefuncte River discovered the body of a man floating in the river around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Sheriff’s spokesman, Capt. George Bonnett said the man appears to be in his late 50’s and was found near one of the piers at the marina. Investigators believe that the man fell into the water sometime overnight, and initial indications show no foul play was involved.

However, the St. Tammany Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy on the body to determine the exact cause of death. Bonnett said the identity of the man will not be released pending notification of next of kin by the Coroner’s Office.
