Less than 24 hours after a man was murdered inside his home on Military Road Monday afternoon, the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office said they have made an arrest.

Terreal M. Bierria, 30, 246 E. Augusta Lane, Slidell was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Soron Salter, 30, also of Slidell. Bierria played for the Seattle Seahawks between 2002 and 2004. Bierria also played football in Georgia and before that he played high school football here in Slidell.

Yesterday afternoon around 1:30 St. Tammany Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call about a disturbance in the 200 block of Military Road and found the Salter’s body near the front door of his house at 221A Military Road.

Sheriff Jack Strain said officers had to force the door open because the body was lying across the door. According to Sgt. George Cox, the body had several stab wounds and looked like Salter had been in a very violent struggle.

Strain said that all evidence points to the fight starting over drugs, and that Bierria was the aggressor in the fight. He did say a weapon and drugs were found at the scene of the crime, but would not elaborate on either.

" I am so grateful for the work done on this case. I live across the street from the home where the man was killed, and I can rest easy again knowing that the person responsible is behind bars, and that the job of finding him was done so quickly. "

" Thank You STPSO for you fast efforts in catching this evil man. I am so glad that we have an investigation team like we do here is St. Tammany Parish! I can not believe that things like this are happening more and more around here. And the way he died is horrible. I had to drive past the scene to get my kids from school. What a way to make a day go bad. I am very sorry for the Salter family. Even if drugs were involved, this is no reason to brutally kill someone. "
