Men’s Day program

at Starlight

The Starlight Missionary Baptist Church annual Men’s Day Program will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. The theme is “Men Answering to God’s Call.”

Starlight is located at 2100 Second Street in Slidell. The public is invited to attend. For more information, contact the church office at 643-3539.

Oktoberfest

The Abride Adorned Christian Fellowship Church will hold an Oktoberfest Oct. 31 from 4-8 p.m.

There will be lots of entertainment for the children such as face painting, inflatables, games and a train. Hot dogs and nachos will be served.

The church is locate at Old Factory Outlet Mall, 1000 Caruso Blvd., Suite 415 in Slidell. For more information, call the church at 661-2086.

Health, Temperance Day set at church

The Slidell Seventh Day Adventist Church in Slidell will host a Health and Temperance Day Oct. 31, at 10 a.m. and at 4 p.m.

The speaker for both programs will be Dr. Isaac Olatunji Jr., a professor of religion and theology at Oakwood University in Huntsville, Ala. Olatunji has pastored in the Southwest Region Conference of SDA and has preached on the continents of Europe, Africa and Australia preaching the everlasting gospel in revivals and evangelistic crusades. He is a decision strategist, success coach and a medical missionary evangelist teaching the principles of prevention and restoration of health.

The Slidell SDA Sabbath School Departments wanted to emphasize the importance of better health. The public is invited to attend and receive information on healthy living.

The church is located on U.S. Highway 190 West.

Magnificat Breakfast upcoming

The Magnificat Breakfast will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 6 at Benedict’s Plantation in Mandeville. Guest speaker will be Sondra Abrahams, a national speaker who will give her first hand accounts of heaven, hell and purgatory.

Silver Rose

The Knights of Columbus of Slidell will pay tribute to Our Lady of Guadalupe, patron of the Americas, by participating in the Silver Rose program with a special prayer service when the rose arrives at St. Margaret Mary Church, Nov. 8, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

The program involves transporting a silver rose from Ontario, Canada through the U.S. to Monterrey, Mexico. It left Canada in May and will conclude in Mexico on Dec. 12, the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The Louisiana portion of the journey will cover over 700 miles, with overnight stops in 21 cities, and a special prayer service at each stop.

Guest speaker

The Rev. Robert Schaubhut of the Maaseiah Ministries will be the guest speaker Nov. 1 at the 10 a.m. service of the Abride Adorned Christian Fellowship Church. Schuabhut will bring a replica of the Tabernacle of Moses, which will be the subject of his lecture. The church is located at the Old Factory Outlet Mall, 1000 Caruso Blvd., Suite 415 in Slidell. God’s Coffee House held Wednesdays

The El-Bethel Apostolic Ministry invites the public to “God’s Coffee House” every Wednesday at 7 p.m. God’s Coffee House is formatted as a talk show during which four live 10-15 minute segments of real life experiences will be shared that will leave audience members in awe of God’s ability to “Keep You Through the Storms of Life.”

God’s Coffee House will be held at 2515 Carey St, Slidell, and be a part of:

“This is my Story.”

NSUU opening Fair Trade Store

The North Shore Unitarian Universalist Religious Education Department has opened a Fair Trade Store, which sells organic products such as coffee (decaf, Colombian, organic blend and French vanilla), hot chocolate, chocolate bars, tea (rooibos, green and breakfast), dried cranberries, pecans and travel mugs. These items will be for sale every Sunday morning both before and after the Worship service at 11 a.m. 

The proceeds from these sales will go to meet the needs of the religious education department of the church.
