Myrtle D. Barringer, 86, of Bush, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Forest Manor Nursing Home in Covington.

She was the beloved wife of the late Jerome E. Barringer by second marriage and the late Abner H. Gilmore by first marriage. She was the mother of Theresa G. Gilmore, Kay G. Strain, Lisa G. Lier and the late William David Gilmore; daughter of the late Alex W. DuBell and Francis Brooks DuBell; sister of the late Mary Williams, Ruth Rayborn and Juanita Pickering. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Wisner and a resident of Bush for the past six years. Barringer was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Bush and a former longtime member of First Baptist Church of Lacombe.


Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Honaker Funeral Home1751 Gause Blvd. W. (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Interment will follow in Toomer Cemetery in Lacombe.
