Lakeshore’s Titans continued their winning ways as they cruised past the Mt. Hermon Yellow Jackets 47-0 Friday night at home.

Lakeshore (8-1) in its inaugural season piled on an amazing 33 points in the first quarter as it strolled to a 40-0 halftime advantage.

The Titans gained 254 yards of total offense rushing for 163 yards on the ground and 91 yards through the air, while picking up 10 first downs.

Titans’ coach Larry Route said his club played really hard.

“We executed on offense and our defense played well getting the shutout. The team has worked hard all year and that shows with our 8-1 record,” Route said.

Titans’ quarterback Michael Ball connected for two scoring passes hitting Tyler Thames and Jared Scott and he rushed for a 25-yard score to spark the Lakeshore offensive attack. Nick Williams tallied two touchdowns. Williams put the Titans up 6-0 on a 10-yard run with 9:16 left in the first quarter, but the extra point was no good. Williams notched his second score from 28 yards out with 6:28 left and Ian Jones booted the extra point to make it 13-0. Ball’s 18-yard scoring pass to Thames pushed the lead to 19-0 with point after being missed at the 5:05 mark. Ball found the end zone on his 25-yard run with 1:43 remaining in the opening quarter with Jones adding the PAT for a 26-0 margin.

On Mt. Hermon’s possession, Brandon Ducre sacked the Yellow Jacket’s quarterback and Alaan LaBostrie recovered the ball for the Titans. Lakeshore took advantage of the turnover with Ball finding Scott from 29 yards out to increase the lead to 33-0 following Jones’ conversion with just 10 seconds left in the opening quarter.

Lakeshore’s special teams made a significant contribution at the 8:13 mark in the second period with Scott scoring on a 65-yard punt return. Jones’ extra point upped the lead to 40-0. The Titans’ Mikal Mazik capped off the scoring returning the second half kickoff 69 yards for a TD. Jones fifth point after touchdown closed at the scoring at 47-0.

Lakeshore closes out its initial season Wednesday night at home hosting the Bogalusa Lumberjacks. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
